Privacy Policy — Watchkeeper
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This policy covers the iPhone app Watchkeeper: COLREGs Lights (com.danielbudylkin.colreg).
Watchkeeper does not collect any data.
No data leaves your device. The app makes no network requests of its own. There is no server behind it, and nothing is sent anywhere.
The one exception is buying the full version. That purchase is carried out entirely by Apple's App Store, which communicates with Apple, not with us. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. The only thing the app learns is whether this device is entitled to the full version, and that is kept on the device itself. If you never open the purchase screen, the app makes no network request at all.
No account. There is nothing to sign in to.
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app contains no third-party SDK for analytics, attribution or advertising. It does not track you across apps or websites, and it never asks for permission to do so.
What is stored on your iPhone. All of it in the app's own storage, and none of it anywhere else:
- which vessels, scenarios and signals you have answered, and when each is next due for review;
- which days you have studied;
- your drill settings — the topics you chose, the United States Inland filter, and your buoyage region;
- your language choice;
- how many of the free trial questions you have used;
- whether the full version has been unlocked on this device;
- whether you have seen the opening pages;
- when the app last asked you to rate it.
If you back your iPhone up, this is included in the backup; iCloud backups are governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Nobody else can read it.
Children. The app is suitable for all ages, and since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.
Your rights. No personal data is collected, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase on request. Everything the app keeps is on your own device, under your control, and goes when the app goes.
Changes. If a future version ever collects anything, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here.
